Introducing the Zenith Chronomaster Original A386 Revival
Pitch Watch Alert…
After the three precious metal variants released as limited editions in mid-2019 around the 50th Anniversary of the iconic Zenith A386, last year the A386 Stainless Steel variant was released as a current edition, however, this variant came with the trio of subdials in different shades of blue which did not correspond to the original made up of the trio sub-dials in grey-black-blue, so there was a gap in the market especially for purists who had long been waiting for the original A386 Revival, well, a year after this variant Zenith seems to have listened to its audience bringing the Chronomaster Original, a 21st-Century re-edition of the most iconic El Primero.
The new reissue of the A386 comes in the same shape as the original 38mm stainless steel case, with an alternating polished and brushed finish, crown signed at 3 o’clock, pump-style chronograph pushers, and domed crystal. On the white panda dial, the 1/10th of a second inner ring scale, the original trio sub-dials in gray-black-blue, a trapeze date aperture at 4 ½ o’clock, straight red-lacquered second hand that replaces the original paddle-shaped second hand and the Zenith logo in the current contemporary version. Internally it comes with the modern Caliber El Primero 3600, which is an evolution over the previous calibers launched with the 50th-anniversary editions (El Primero 499) and the 2020 steel version (El Primero 400), the new movement features a superior power reserve now of 60 hours, a second central chronograph hand that makes one turn every 10 seconds, stop second mechanism and a Certified Chronometer. The watch is offered with a stainless steel 3-link bracelet or a blue leather strap.
Alongside this launch, Zenith has launched two more variants, one in stainless steel with a reverse Panda dial, with the trio of subdials in silver and with the hour indexes and hands filled with Super-LumiNova in cream and another variant in rose gold. The steel variant is offered with a stainless steel bracelet or a beige leather strap, while the rose gold variant is offered with a brown leather strap.
Prices range from CHF 8,400 to CHF 8,900 for the steel variants with a leather strap or steel bracelet respectively and CHF 18,900 for the rose gold variant.
