Introducing The Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight GMT
Perhaps one of Watches And Wonders’ biggest launches this year is the brand new Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight GMT which has just arrived, after so many years making many fans sigh and “despair” with the arrival of the brand’s iconic best-selling watch with the complication GMT, that not even the launch of Black Bay Pro two years ago served to calm the audience.
But as it seems more and more that the brand is listening to its audience, the much-desired has just arrived. It comes with a beautiful black-burgundy 24-hour bezel, a black dial, gilt accents, a fourth central GMT snowflake hand, the same small date window next to the crown at 3 o’clock, a new crown without the “ugly” tube that separated it from the case in the previous generation and Master Chronometer MT5450-U movement.
But let’s get to the point, for the fewer believers we have good news, as the thickness of the case is not far from the regular BB Fifty Eight, embracing a case measuring 39mm wide, 12.80mm high and 47.80mm lug-to-lug distance, bi-directional bi-colour bezel, screw-down crown and case back and the same 200m of water resistance.
Almost everything is said on the dial, steel gold-plated hour markers and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, just like the minute track on the edges and the inscriptions at noon and 6 o’clock and a date window with a white background, works well.
The Caliber MT5450-U, COSC and METAS chronometer-certified, operates at 28,800 Vph with an accuracy of -2/+4 seconds per day and a power reserve of up to 65 hours.
The new BB Fifty Eight GMT arrives with two strap options, the usual 3-link bracelet, and yes, the elegant 5-link bracelet of the wider version is not available for the most popular version, but it comes with the desirable T-Fit clasp with extension.
