Introducing the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph 39mm
Tag Heuer has just launched two new dials of its Monaco model, which correspond to three new variants, confused? We then went on to explain, in fact, and in our perspective, there are just two new variants that have just arrived from the brand’s hottest watch, one with the black dial and the other with the blue dial, however, Tag Heuer presents us with a third variant which corresponds to the same black or blue dial that we just announced, but with a novelty, for the first time in the last 20 years equipped with a bracelet.
But let’s go to the facts about the watch that really matters, for the most distracted, Tag Heuer marked the 50th anniversary of his Monaco model last year with a commemorative edition GPHM (Grand Prix Historique de Monaco) with a red dial and a black leather strap perforated in the style of so-called “rally straps”, this edition, unlike these last releases, had some peculiarities, starting with the dial, it was not entirely red, it was occupied in all its diameter by a silver circumference and within two sub-dials red rectangles with rounded corners, with a 12-hour counter and a 30-minute counter that were part of the chronograph’s functions, also the outer corners of the dial’s circumference were red, another interesting detail was the fact that the sapphire glass at the caseback comes with the inscription “Grand Prix Historique de Monaco” engraved in red, black and grey in the same three colours used on the dial and it was a limited edition of 1000 pieces.
Tag Heuer now introduces two new dials in the collection, one in sunray black and the other in sunray blue, here we can highlight that, unlike the celebratory edition, the dials present uniformity in terms of filling without the silver inner circumference and now with two square silver subdials. These new variants are presented as non-limited editions, equipped with the same In-house automatic movement Heuer 02 with 80 hours of power reserve. Through the rear sapphire glass, it is possible to observe the movement of the watch from where we can detach the black column wheel with red details that fit perfectly in the set. Two of the variants come with leather bracelets in the same colour as the dials, in a more classic version in relation to the “rally strap” that fitted the celebratory edition, the other variant comes with a stainless steel bracelet, it has a solid construction with its entire width in the form of H (Heuer) brushed and with small square central links polished.
Our conclusion is that these two variants are very welcome and complete a range of interesting possibilities for those who want to purchase a Tag Heuer Monaco, with a black dial that seems to be a more classic option and two other variants, one in blue and the other in red as more casual and sporty models, which revive the essence of the watch in the 70s.
