There are dating that last a lifetime and then there are weddings that are for life and any of these could well be the story of Heuer and Porsche.
These two companies that share stories of success and admiration for each other, over the years have been collaborating on projects from time to time and today crown this relationship with a partnership that promises to extend over the coming years.
The dating of the two brands began in 1963 when Jack Heuer made the first Heuer “Carrera” chronograph in honour of the famous Porsche 911 Carrera and from then on, the collaborations between these two brands followed. It is worth mentioning the development of the Heuer Monaco, the first square, water-resistant and automatic chronograph, built in honour of the Monte Carlo Rally won three times by Porsche between 1968 and 1970, the same watch gained even more prominence when it was worn by the famous Steve McQueen during the shooting of the film “Le Mans” in 1970, in which he drove a Porsche 917 and wore the “Heuer” logo on his racing suit in the image of Jo Siffert (a racing driver and Porsche dealer). Already in the 80s, they developed the Tag-Porsche engine who gave three F1 World titles to McLaren between 1984 and 1986 first by the hands of Niki Lauda and then Alain Prost. Recently and already in this century they created the team “TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E” and in the first race in 2019 they ended up on the podium, in an honourable second place.
To celebrate this new partnership, Tag Heuer now launches the new Tag Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph. This new model is based on the Tag Heuer’s Carrera Sport Chronograph and comes in a 44mm steel case with a finish that alternates between polished and brushed, the ceramic bezel with Tachymeter scale with the inscription “Porsche” engraved in red, the case back comes with sapphire glass through which we can observe the internal movement, from which stands out the oscillating mass that appears on the shape of a steering wheel and it is printed with “Porsche” and “TAG Heuer”.
The dial features a grey textured pattern that resembles asphalt, Arabic indexes that suggest the numbers on the dashboard of fine Porsche sportscars, three black counters with red accents, a 30-second counter at 3 o’clock, a 12 -hour counter at 9 and a small second at 6, and also a date window at 6 o’clock.
The watch is equipped with the In-house Caliber Heuer 02, a manufactured automatic movement that offers up to 80 hours of power reserve. The watch is offered with a steel bracelet or black leather calf strap stitching with a white line, reminiscent of the interior of the Porsches.
