Introducing the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Limited Edition Chronograph
Since 1985, Seiko has been the official timekeeper of the World Athletics Championships and this year for the 17th consecutive time it is again, which will take place during the month of July in Eugene, Oregon in the United States, where approximately 1,800 athletes will compete.
In order to celebrate this milestone and its tradition of producing high-precision sports devices since 1960, Seiko is now launching the new Prospex Speedtimer Limited Edition Chronograph.
The new chronograph is powered by the Caliber 8R46, and like the first Seiko Speedtimer from 1969 which was powered by the Caliber 6139, it incorporates a vertical clutch and column wheel that guarantees the same levels of precision and durability.
Its 42.5mm diameter stainless steel case features prominent chronograph push buttons for quick handling and an open-through case back with individual numbering whose sapphire crystal is engraved with the ‘World Championships OREGON 22’ inscription and its logo.
The black dial features a sand pattern that evokes the texture of the running track, and the chronograph seconds hand and the 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock are in yellow, which is the colour of all Seiko’s timing and measures devices. Still on the dial, central hour and minute hands filled with Lumibrite, a small seconds at 3 o’clock and a date window at 6 o’clock.
Finally, the watch is offered with a stainless steel bracelet with three links, and additionally comes with a black leather strap with yellow details.
This is a limited edition of 400 units, which will be available in the brand’s official boutiques and selected retail partners worldwide, for a price of €3,200.
