Introducing the Seiko Presage Style 60’s
Let’s go to another Pitch Watch
And after yesterday we bring here news from Grand Seiko, today is the turn of the mother brand Seiko to also present news and this is very interesting, we are talking about the new Seiko Presage Style ’60s.
Inspired as the name indicates in the 60s, which in itself already makes us especially excited, this new model is inspired by the 1964 model The Crown Chronograph, which marked the beginning of the brand in the manufacture of chronograph watches. The vintage model that is the source of inspiration for these new releases is one of those models that those who love watches from that era fall in love with, with an ivory dial, faceted indexes, sharp hands, black bezel, one crown, and a mono-pusher button that control the stopwatch function.
Thus, the new models bring together a large part of the Crown Chronograph’s aesthetic characteristics such as box-shaped glass, faceted indexes and a sharp hands design. In addition, they are presented in a 40.8mm stainless-steel case that is gently rounded and slightly angled inward to provide comfort to the wrist, with polishing finishes.
It is on the dial that we find four color variants with options in ivory, black, and earth tones colors of blue and green whose shades extend to the bezel with the exception of the ivory variant which features a black bezel. In order to allow easy reading of the hours in low light conditions the hands and indexes come with LumiBrite with a slightly faded color that aims to recreate the vintage style, it is on the dial that we find a novelty a date aperture at 3 o’clock. Internally, the automatic movement Caliber 4R35 operates, with a hacking function that offers up to 41 hours of power reserve. All models with the exception of the black variant come with a three-link stainless-steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp, while the black variant comes with a black nylon bracelet in the NATO-style, which is a complete debut in the Presage collection and aimed at recreating the style of the 60s.
In addition, this new model offers three variants with a skeletonized design, with an opening on the dial at 9 o’clock through which the movement’s balance can be observed and which also offers a 24-hour subdial at 10 ½ o’clock instead of the date aperture of the other variants. These three variants are presented in ivory, black and brown, the brown variant features a steel case with a gold/copper coating. Internally it uses the automatic movement Caliber 4R39, which has the same characteristics of hacking function and also offers up to 41 hours of power reserve. The ivory and black variants come with a steel bracelet while the brown variant comes with a brown NATO-style nylon strap. It should also be noted that the models with skeletonized design have a thickness slightly higher than 0.8mm in relation to the other four models.
The new Seiko Presage Style 60s will be available from June in the official boutiques and representatives of the brand, with prices from € 490 to € 590.
