Introducing the Seiko Presage Sharp Edged ‘Akebono’
Seiko has just added two new models to its Presage Sharp Edged Series through two limited editions of 2,000 pieces each.
The two new watches stand out from the rest of the collection as their black DLC finish exterior and gradient purple dial.
A design inspired by Akebono, a Japanese term that signals the passage from the dark of night to dawn, in which the hard coating of the case and bracelet reflects the night. In contrast, the dial reflects the dawn through its purple hue accompanied by the tones of hands and hour indexes in rose gold that tries to express the first rays of sunlight.A nível exterior para além do acabamento já antes mencionado não há novidades a assinalar, apresentando ambos os relógios e ao espelho de outros modelos da linha, caixa e bracelete with flat surfaces and sharp edges, 39.3mm de diametro de caixa with a smooth bezel para o SPB363 e 42.2mm de diametro with a 24 hour bezel para o SPB361.
The dial, which comes with the traditional Japanese Asanoha (or “hemp leaf”) pattern, features new trapeze-shaped hour markers as well as a second hand with a tip. The SPB361 also comes with a bi-colour inner ring in black and white that marks the period of night and day hours that together with the bezel work in partnership with the central GMT hand that comes in white, a date pointer sub-dial at 6 o’clock and finally, a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock. While the SPB363 features the usual three centre hands complemented by a frame date window at 3 o’clock.
From a mechanical point of view, the two new Presage SPB361 and SPB363 maintain confidence in the 6R64 and 6R35 automatic movements that also give life to the other models in the series, which can be seen operating through the open case back and which are engraved with an edition limited indication.
The watches will be available from January 2023 in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for the recommended price of €1,450 (SPB361) and €990 (SPB363).
