Introducing the Seiko 140th Anniversary LE Re-creation of King Seiko KSK
In the early 1960s, a time when the Grand Seiko was beginning to shine in the watch industry, another Seiko subsidiary was born to extend Seiko’s legacy under the name of King Seiko, it was a very reliable watch with an interesting design, but its point high only happened a few years later, in 1965, with the launch of its second generation, the King Seiko KSK and if in terms of precision it maintained the high standards of the first generation in terms of design, it has seen major improvements, such as flat surfaces, multifaceted corners and a super-hard coating to prevent scratches have given this watch a new contemporary and elegant look.
Now, 55 years after the launch of the King Seiko KSK and to celebrate Seiko’s 140th anniversary, it is launching a recreation of this watch very similar to the original second-generation KSK, but with a modern movement as expected and some design improvements. This is a limited edition of 3,000 pieces that will be available only in January.
But let’s take a look at this impressive new piece, on the outside, it fits into a 38.1 mm diameter and 11.4 mm thick stainless steel case, faceted lugs with cutting angles or sharp angles as described by Seiko, hard coating that gives real protection against scratches, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, at 3 am a signed crown and on the back a solid screw cap with a central gold medallion with the signature and stamp of King Seiko and the inscriptions of “ Edition Limited ”and the serial number.
On the dial, a flat white (silver) dial, faceted dauphine hands, faceted indexes, at 12 o’clock a larger textured marker and at 3 o’clock a date window with a frame that fits very well in general.
As for movement, this watch is powered by a Caliber 6L35 automatic movement, which adds a date window and offers 45 hours of power reserve.
The watch comes with a black crocodile leather strap with a Seiko signature buckle in a vintage style.
Final considerations, it is an elegant, very reliable, top quality piece that is part of Seiko’s foundations. For some reason, he did not know the success of his “brother” Grand Seiko, but he will always be on the horizon of many collectors and enthusiasts and therefore the 3,000 pieces should not last long.
