The Oyster Perpetual is Rolex’s second-biggest launch this year, with seven variants, five of them in the traditional 36 mm size and two in a new size, 41 mm that replaces the previous 39 mm size, which probably won’t leave many happy people, but this is a discussion that we have already covered in another article and to which we will not return.
These new releases come with an oystersteel case and bracelet, bright dials, a renewed luminescence on the hands and hours markers, which allow a perfect reading of the hours even in the dark. The five new colours in 36 mm are: light blue, green, yellow, orange and pink, while in the two 41 mm variants the colours of the dials are, one in black and the other in silver, with sunray finished, the latter variant comes with yellow gold hands and hour markers.
Within these oyster perpetual and as with the submariner line, there is a totally new movement Caliber 3230, the same that equips the Rolex Submariner no-date variant, with 70 hours of power reserve, Chronergy escapement propriety of the brand and the Superlative Chronometer Certification.
Final considerations, although there is no change of aesthetic background in the oyster perpetual line, contrary to what we see with the submariner line, inside they gained a new life with a new modern movement that replaced an old movement with more than 20 years and the benefits are notorious, not only in terms of accuracy and reliability but also in terms of power reserve, almost doubling the previous values from 48 hours to more modern 70 hours.
