Introducing the Patek Philippe In-Line Perpetual Calendar

Patek Philippe has just added a new Perpetual Calendar to their masterpieces, but this is no longer one of the others, it is the first In-line perpetual calendar made on a wristwatch, something special that has just been born.

If you have been in the watchmaking world for quite some time, you know that one of the most complex complications is the Perpetual Calendar and, in this league, Patek Philippe has been producing perpetual calendars since 1925, for almost a century and always adding, even more, the In-Line Perpetual  Calendar had already been done but at a different level, in a pocket watch, where the challenge and complexity are present but in a workspace with dimensions greater than a wristwatch.

But let’s find out a little bit how everything fits together, and starting with the main attraction of the clock, the day-date-month window in a single opening at 12 o’clock, which has four discs, two of them dedicated to the date, the first challenge started here since the pocket watch used only 3 discs and in a larger case, 118 pieces were added to all this be possible. But the technical complexity of this watch does not end here, with two complementary round openings on the dial that shows the leap year cycle at 4 o’clock and the day/night indication on the opposite side at 8 o’clock, and finally at the bottom, a small seconds with an opening to the moon phases. All these feats in the ultra-thin automatic movement Caliber 31-260 PS QL, equipped with a mini-motor and a customized module, holding three patents.

The watch comes in a 41.3 mm and 11.07 mm thick polished platinum case, a blue gradient dial that darkens as it approaches the periphery with a satin vertical finish, applied hour markers and faceted white gold hands. It is offered with a blue alligator leather strap with a platinum fold clasp.

The watch will be available in the brand’s boutiques for a price of € 116,000.
