Introducing the Oris Big Crown Caliber 473
There is a new Big Crown Pointer Date in the Oris universe that not only marks the debut of the brand in the new year 2023 but above all the arrival of a new movement, the Caliber 473.
And starting with the big news is the introduction of Caliber 473, which represents another step in the path that Oris began in 2021 with the debut of the In-house Caliber 403.
But unlike the Caliber 403, the new movement is not automatic but manual wound which, in addition to continuing to offer 5 days of power reserve and 10 years of warranty, also offers now greater resistance to magnetic fields and a power reserve indicator mounted on the rear of the watch.
On the outside, the new Big Crown features the same 38mm diameter stainless steel case with the smooth bezel as its older brother from 2021, with the brand’s signature crown at 3 o’clock, sapphire glass on the front and case back and 50 meters of resistance the water.
The dial, which features a new blue hue and white accents, maintains the renewed 2021 layout, consummated with a small second at 6 o’clock, pencil hands and a central date pointer with a red arrow-shape tip.
The watch comes with a sustainably sourced brown Cervo Volante strap with a butterfly clasp and is priced at €4,200, a premium of €900 and €2,200 over the Big Crown Pointer Date Caliber 403 and 754 (based on the SW 200-1) also in 38mm, as they say around here “they are growing pains”.
