Introducing The New Yema Superman Slim CMM.20
The French watchmaking brand Yema presents the new Superman Slim CMM.20, which has been redesigned inside and out, with the main emphasis on the new internal micro rotor movement.
The iconic diving watch, which was born in 1963 and was relaunched just over five years ago, had to date twelve variants, which in addition to the different tones on the dial, came with different complications, in addition to the basic time functions, there are also versions that come with a date window and others with a second time zone, and there is even one for lefties with a crown at 9 o’clock.
The revitalized Yema Superman Slim CMM.20 that now arrives comes in a new stainless steel case 39mm wide, 11.80mm high and therefore thinner, and 48mm lug-to-lug distance, with more curved lugs, which features a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished on the sides and bevels. Unidirectional diving bezel with 60-minute scale and triangle marking 12 o’clock lumed, and with the traditional lock system, sapphire glass on both sides, screw-down crown with the brand’s signature at 3 o’clock and the same previous 300m waterproof.
The lacquer dial comes in two variants, one in black and the other in bright blue, the tones of which also extend to the respective bezels, featuring printed hour markers that, like the hands, are filled with Super-LumiNova, preserving the previous pencil and arrow tip shapes for the hours and minutes pointers, while the centre seconds hand has now a slimmer stick format.
Inside, it is the new micro-rotor Caliber CMM.20 manual movement developed in partnership with Olivier Mory that runs, presenting an accuracy of -3 / +7 seconds per day, reaching 28,800 Vph and offering up to 70 hours of power reserve , which can be observed through the open rear case and which highlights the blackned galvanized bridges.
The new skin diver also receives a new steel bracelet, which I would venture to say resembles snakeskin (scales) that tapers starting at 20mm between lugs and ending at 16mm near the folding clasp.
The watches will be available to order from February 20th and it is estimated that the first ones will be delivered in May, for a price of €2,490, which is not cheap and represents a prize of approximately €1,000 compared to previous versions, which may (or may not) be justified with all the improvements now introduced.
