Introducing The New Yema Flygraf FAF
The French watch brand Yema once again invokes its roots in manufacturing military watches to bring a new collection, the Flygraf FAF, developed in partnership with the French Air Force (FAF).
The two new watches that makeup Yema’s new line are inspired by the Flieger Type A, a classic pilot’s watch, offering a titanium version with a time and date function and mechanical movement, and another with a chronograph function and Meca-Quartz movement.
And starting with the Flygraf FAF with time-date function comes in a Grade 2 titanium case with dimensions of 40mm in diameter, 9.40mm in thickness and 46mm lug-to-lug distance with a satin matte finish, double-domed sapphire crystal, big crown at 3 o’clock to facilitate handling with gloves and which comes engraved with the FAF logo, screwed steel case back also engraved with the same emblem and 100m water resistance.
The dial, which has three colour variants, in black, green or blue, comes with Arabic numerals and a triangle between dots marking the noon, all filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova, and as with the hour and minute hands, a date window at 6 o’clock with the background in the same tone as the dial, a rehaut minute track and a centre seconds hand. It should also be noted that the hands, the triangle, the minute track and the Arabic numerals in the date window are painted in a beige tone, giving it a retro look.
Inside they are powered by the In-house automatic movement Yema2000, which comes with an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per day, running at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 42 hours of power reserve.
The Yema Flygraf Bicompax FAF embraces a stainless steel case with the same dimensions but slightly thicker by 0.10mm, which also comes with a satin finish with double-domed crystal but here in Hesalite, the large crown at 3 o’clock comes flanked by two push buttons, the same steel case back embossed with FAF logo and also the same water resistance.
On the dial the story is different, coming with only two colour options, in black or blue, with a layout of two vertical registers, with a 60-minute counter at 12 o’clock and a running seconds at 6 o’clock framed with a red-white-blue ring, the colours of the FAF, Arabic numerals in a different font that, like the pencil hands, also come filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova that glows blue in the dark, a minute track and tachymeter inner bezel, and finally, a chronograph centre seconds hand.
Inside runs the Caliber VK61 Meca-Quartz by Seiko, which features a Quartz mechanism for the time function and a mechanical mechanism for the chronograph function supported by a separate module.
Both watches come attached to a Canvas strap matching the tone of the dial with a steel pin-buckle and bearing the brand’s signature. The time-date version is priced at USD 1,218, while the Chrono Bicompax version is priced at USD 528.
