Introducing The New Tissot Sideral
Remember the innovative and colourful Tissot Sideral S from the ’70s? Well, it’s back and with a design that stays true to the original.
The new Sideral now arrives in a 41mm forged carbon case instead of the previous 40mm fibreglass case, it is therefore slightly wider, but continues to fit small, benefiting from the 46.5 mm lug-to-lug distance thanks to its hidden lugs, whose tone resembles a black and grey camouflage, and which adds traces in shades of blue unique to this variant. On the outside we can also find a unidirectional steel PVD black bezel whose scale is filled with luminescent material, domed sapphire crystal, steel screw-down crown and an open case back, and finally 300m of water resistance (one under more than the original).
The dial with a black background maintains the original layout, with a minute railroad track in different shades and which, together with the colour of the strap, define the different variants, presented in blue for the blue variant, in yellow for the yellow and in grey variant for the red variant, the only one that doesn’t match, so as not to collide with the “Regatta” scale countdown in green and red that applies to all variants, and which also includes luminescence. Added to this are the white hour and minute hands matching the date window at 3 o’clock, a T-shape red centre seconds hand and the inscriptions of the vintage brand’s logo at 9 o’clock and “Powermatic 80” at 6 o’clock which replaces the previously mentioned “Automatic”. It should also be noted that, unlike the 1969 model, the new Sideral now chooses not to include its name at 3 o’clock just next to the date window.
Inside, as mentioned on the dial, there are no surprises, operating the robust Caliber Powermatic 80, which hits 21,600 Vph and offers up to 80 hours of power reserve.
The watches are attached to a perforated rubber strap with an innovative closing mechanism made from the same material as the strap and with a quick-release system.
The Tissot Sideral will be available at the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for €1,075 and seem to be an excellent option for the coming summer, and since summer is colour, there is a set of straps in other colours available that will help you liven up the season.
