Introducing The New TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Year Of The Dragon
In anticipation of the upcoming New Year of the Dragon that begins on February 10, 2024, Tag Heuer presents two limited editions of its Carrera Chronograph that pay homage to the arrival of the Chinese New Year.
The two exclusive editions, one in 18k rose gold of just 50 pieces and the other in stainless steel of 300 pieces, both come with red accents and a Dragon character on the dial.
On the outside, the chronographs wear the traditional round case measuring 42mm in diameter and 14.30mm thick, which features a mainly brushed finish, smooth bezel without tachymeter scale faithful to Jack Heuer’s original 1963 design, sapphire crystal on the front, signed fluted crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two Piston-style pushers, screwed sapphire case back painted with the dragon figure in black and gold and 100m water resistance.
The silver-tone dial on the steel version and gold-plated dial on the gold version features a sunray brushed finish, where we can find a Tri-compax layout with a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter at 3 and 9 o’clock in shades of red matching the chronograph centre seconds hand as well as the inside of the applied hour markers. On the dial, we can also find a ‘ghost’ running seconds at 6 o’clock decorated with a white date window on the bottom and the calligraphic Dragon character in black on the top, rhodium-plated hands and indexes both with luminescent material on the steel version and gold-plated on the gold one, and finally a minute and second track in black on the inclined chapter ring.
Inside there is nothing new, with the Caliber Heuer 02 continuing to reign, which features a column wheel and a vertical clutch, operating 28,800 Vph and offering up to 80 hours of power reserve.
The exclusive timepieces, which come attached to a red alligator leather strap with a steel folding clasp or a gold pin buckle respectively, also include a red leather case.
