Introducing the New Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811/1G
After last year’s goodbye to the much sought-after Nautilus ref. 5711 Patek Philippe reveals today his successor, the new Nautilus ref. 5811.
The long-awaited successor to Gérald Genta’s model now arrives with some new features, although at first glance it appears more similarities than differences.
And starting with the outside it now comes in a white gold case slightly wider by 1mm, now measuring 41mm in diameter. Another novelty is the case construction, which goes back to its roots (Nautilus 3700/1A) featuring a monoblock structure consisting of two single pieces, case and bezel, instead of the previous case consisting of three pieces, present from 2006 to the last year at the time of discontinuation of Nautilus ref. 5711.
It is evident that with the new monoblock case, the movement is now placed/extracted by the dial, once again returning to its origins, which translated into increased difficulties whenever there was a need for maintenance since access to the movement was made through the complex split-stem system, a problem that is now “solved” by the introduction of the new pull-out piece lever system that allows the winding stem to be removed from the dial side.
The dial, which now comes in a blue gradient whose hues intensify from the center outward, comes with white gold applied hour markers and baton hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, and a frame date window at three o’clock, in addition to the brand inscriptions in white at 12 o’clock.
Inside, they are equipped with the In-house Caliber 26-330 S C automatic movement that already equipped the latest references of the Nautilus 5711/1A with only 3.3mm thickness, which operates 28,800 Vph and offers up to 45 hours of power reserve. The movement that can be observed operating from the sapphire case back is highlighted by the 21K gold winding rotor engraved with the brand’s logo.
The new Nautilus comes with a white gold bracelet with a patented fold-over clasp that allows you to extend the bracelet by 2 or 4mm.
It is available from today in the brand’s official boutiques at a price of €69,200.
Our Opinion
The return of Nautilus now with a new reference is without a doubt a reason for rejoicing on our part for all the history it represents.
We liked the baptism of the new reference with a blue tone dial, there could be no better choice and now with a gradient effect, the impressive 8.2mm thick monoblock case and the adjustable bracelet by its new clasp system, which makes it more efficient and comfortable.
The main drawback could be the price, which, as expected and depending on the material used, comes with a price adjusted to this condition, which will not please everyone, but if that means being more accessible than the previous 5711 it will quickly become a no issue.
With the new reference, expectations are renewed, and with them, we are hopeful to wait for new models, namely the return to new stainless steel references.
