Introducing The New Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 Laser
After the basic versions with a blue, grey and salmon dial, which were joined at the beginning of this year by the animated Kermit version in a striking green tone, Oris now brings us a new version of the Pro-Pilot x Caliber 400 called ‘Laser’.
The name ‘Laser’ originates from the treatment given to the titanium dial that the new watch comes with, which causes the dial to present a colourful scheme in shades of blue, violet and green, a dance of colours that changes to the eye of each one, depending on the viewing angle and exposure to light. The other novelty is that this new version comes without the usual date window at 6 o’clock which, together with the new ‘good mood’ dial, makes us smile.
Not only the dial but all of its elements are obtained using a laser that gives them a darkened appearance and that seems to work very well on the new dial, namely the hour markers which, like the central hands, are filled with Super-LumiNova, and the inscriptions of the brand at noon and ‘Propilot X’ followed by ‘5 Days’ relating to the power reserve at 6 o’clock.
There is nothing new on the outside, wearing the same titanium case as its peers, with a fixed edge-coin bezel, sapphire crystal on both sides, screw-down crown, 100m water resistance and a three-row bracelet matching the material case with the brand’s patented ‘LIFT’ buckle.
Inside and as its name suggests, it operates the In-house Caliber 400 automatic movement, which is protected against magnetic fields up to 2,250 Gauss, presents an accuracy of +5 / -3 seconds per day, operates 28,800 Vph and offers up to 120 hours of power reserve.
The new ProPilot x Caliber 400 Laser is now available in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for a price of €4,800, which represents a prize of €400 compared to the four previous editions, which in our opinion seems perfectly justifiable given the inclusion of the titanium laser treated dial and the banishment of the date window.
