Introducing the New Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy
Oris is once again re-editing the Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy collection two years after presenting the trio of watches in blue, green and pink pastel tones.
But the reissue of the collection with coloured dials comes with some new features, starting with the case material, if you remember in 2021 the diving watches came in a bronze case and now they are wearing a steel case although with the same moderate dimensions 38mm in diameter and 12.8mm thick. All other specifications are maintained, namely unidirectional steel bezel with embossed scale, domed sapphire crystal, screw-down crown with the brand’s signature, screw-in case back and 100m of water resistance.
On the dial, the same trio of colours are distributed by each of the new variants, although now they are presented in a more vivid tone. The luminescent material that fills the applied hour markers and the three centre hands now come in white tones instead of the beige ones that were part of the variants in bronze, and finally a date window at 6 o’clock.
Inside is the affordable Caliber 733 based on the Sellita SW200-1, which reaches 28,800 Vph and offers up to 41 hours of power reserve.
The new divers’ watches offer two strap options, one in Perlon made from recycled material matching the tone of the dial and another with the traditional 3-link steel bracelet, with prices ranging from €2,150 to €2,350 for each of these options.
Our Opinion
Although we like the previous bronze versions, we cannot fail to recognize the greater versatility of the steel versions, which, together with the “new” white lume, seem to be better adapted to the bathing season.
A word for the movement, as we mentioned before, 41 hours seem to be increasingly short these days and could alienate some interested parties, however, we understand that is challenging for the brand to choose between maintaining a reliable movement with less power reserve at a moderate price or opting for a premium In-house movement with more capacity but at a higher price.
