Introducing The New Omega Constellation Meteorite Dials
After the novelties in the Seamaster collection in the Planet Ocean and Aqua Terra lines that arrived almost anonymously, Omega now announces the arrival of five new watches in its Constellation collection whose main feature is the Meteorite dials.
The Constellation model, which has been present in the brand since 1952, has undergone changes over time, the most significant being in 1980 with the new “Manhattan” design and in 2019 revitalized as we know it today by Carol Didisheim, first in the female version and which a year later it would also extend to the 39mm men’s version.
The new Constellation arrives in 41mm, with the previous configuration but now with a Meteorite dial in different materials. Among the new models there are three in stainless steel, one in 18k Moonshine Gold and finally one in 18k Sedna Gold.
The Meteorite dials, which already seem to be a new year’s trend among some brands, here have as their source of origin the Muonionalusta Meteorite in Sweden, to which a PVD treatment is applied, with the exception of the silver dial in one of the steel versions, which is replaced with a galvanized treatment.
So on the outside, the watches come with the traditional Tonneau-shaped case with the dimensions of 41mm in diameter, 13.50mm in thickness and 44mm lug-to-lug distance with integrated bracelet, which feature a mainly brushed finish, while the claws and Roman numerals in positive relief by laser ablating on the bezel, crown, bevels, case back and connection links on the bracelet come with a polished finish. Fluted crown at 3 o’clock, sapphire glass on both sides and 50m water resistance.
On the dial we can find the usual layout with applied hour markers, brand logo and star from the Constellation line, three centre hands, a date window at 6 o’clock and a printed minute track.
As for the different variants, we have a steel version with a silver meteorite dial with black markers matching the tone of the ceramic bezel, another steel version with a green meteorite dial with white gold markers and a green ceramic bezel and finally in steel, one with a meteorite blue dial with white gold markers and a titanium bezel. Additionally, we have two models in gold, one in Moonshine Gold (yellow gold alloy of the brand) and another in Sedna Gold (rose gold alloy of Omega) whose material, in addition to the case, also extends to the bezel, dial and its elements, and bracelet.
Inside, the new Constellation are powered by Caliber 8900 and 8901 automatic movements for the steel and gold versions respectively, the difference being that the latter comes with a gold rotor and balance bridge. They are Chronometer certified, with co-axial escapement, operating at 25,200 Vph and offering up to 60 hours of power reserve.
The watches, which are already available in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers, are priced at €10,500 for the steel version with a blue dial, €10,900 for the steel versions with a silver and green dial, and €47,800 for the Moonshine and Sedna Gold versions.
