Introducing The New Maurice Lacroix AIKON Automatic Bronze

Maurice Lacroix has just presented a new limited edition of the AIKON, which this time arrives in bronze with an awesome gradient chocolate dial.

Like the previous exclusive editions, the new AIKON Automatic Bronze is limited to 888 units, which comes with a bronze case that over time develops into a distinctive patina according to the brand that, together with the gradient fumé dial and the aged leather strap, gives the watch with a charming vintage style.

On the outside, we find a case with a mainly brushed finish with dimensions of 42mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, featuring a bezel with claws that we also find on the integrated lugs and which come with a sandblasted finish, sapphire crystal, crown at 3 o’clock with the brand’s signature, steel rear case held by six screws and an astonishing 200m of waterproofing.

The fumé gradient chocolate dial that perfectly matches the bronze tone of the case, comes with a Clous de Paris pattern and on it we find 4N gold PVD applied baton hour markers that appear duplicated in the 4 cardinal points and faceted hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, a centre seconds hand, a framed date window next to the crown with a white background and the applied brand logo at noon which, like the indices, comes in 4N gold PVD.

Inside there is no room for surprises and we once again find the Caliber ML135 automatic movement based on the 26-jewel Sellita SW200, which runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve. The movement can be seen working through the rear sapphire crystal highlighting the semi-skeletonized rotor that comes with the brand’s emblem.

Finally, the watch is attached to a vintage brown leather strap with light grey stitching and the brand’s “M” hallmark in 4N gold. The watch arrives with a price tag of CHF 2,400.

Our Opinion

This new variant of the ML AIKON is undoubtedly beautiful, the combination of the bronze case that over time promises to transform into an interesting patina with the fumé gradient brown dial is the perfect combination.

We also liked the new arrangement of the dial, with the Clous de Paris pattern and the new stick indexes, but the same cannot be said about the date window, which deserved to come with a background matching the dial and not in a white tone.

We still consider the 42mm case too large and believe that 38 would work much better and 36 would be perfect, apart from that we liked it.
