Introducing The New Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Geographic
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris diving sports watch born in 2018, which in its collection has variants with time only, time-date, chronograph and perpetual calendar, now debuts a second-time zone complication.
The new JLC Polaris Geographic arrives in a stainless steel case with an ocean grey dial with 35 layers of lacquer hand-applied with orange accents and comes with two strap options.
On the outside, the new Polaris wears a robust round case measuring 42mm in diameter and 11.54mm thick, which comes with a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished on the bevels, bezel and crowns. Glass-box sapphire crystal, curved lugs, crown at 3 o’clock with the brand’s signature and an additional crown at 10 o’clock that allows you to select one of the 24 identified time zones making the associated time indicator jump to local time, once selected, open case back and 100m water resistance.
The busy grey dial is divided into three sectors, starting with a gradient lacquered centre disc that intensifies the tone as it expands outward housing semi-skeletonized hands filled with Super-LumiNova that glows green in the dark, a power reserve indicator with an orange end mark and a 12-hour second-time zone with a day-night indicator. Next comes a grained ring on which accent hour markers and Arabic numerals, also filled with the same luminescent material as the hands but which here glow blue at night and finally, a black rehaut minute/second track that comes with a triangle inverted orange lumed at noon and an opening between 4:30 and 7:30 where an internal disc with 24 different time-zones runs.
The in-house 282-component Caliber 939 automatic movement is revealed by the carefully decorated sapphire crystal caseback, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 70 hours of power reserve.
As previously mentioned, the watch comes with two strap options, a black textured rubber strap and a grey and blue Canvas strap, with a price of CHF 15,400.
