Introducing the new IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43

Finally, IWC decided to make pilot watches for ordinary guys. From an early age, the brand was involved in aviation and so it was not surprising when in the first half of the last century it started creating pilot watches, times were different and aviation was also, large watches were sought not only because it was necessary to easy reading of the time, but also because they were tool watches used as essential aids to flights. Today the reality has changed, modern aeroplanes and aviation do not require great support of watches to fly and so it is useless to continue making modern watches with the same measurements of the past, of course, tool watches will always be tool watches and sometimes it is nice to have a big piece on your wrist to remind us where it came from, but not forever. That is why the IWC decided to resize some of its pilot watches, for sure there are big fans of the brand with small or even medium wrists that were waiting for this movement of the brand.

The Big Pilot’s Watch 43, is a reduction in the size of its Big Pilot’s Watch with 46mm, ok, we would probably go a little further, maybe in the 41mm, but 3mm is a lot and a big step for IWC, so let’s be patient.

The 43 mm stainless steel case comes with the usual large crown at 3 o’clock, sapphire glass on both sides and 100 m water resistance. On the dial, it is no complications, a simple minute track, Arabic hour markers and the three central hands. Inside, the In-house automatic movement Caliber 82100, offering up to 60 hours of power reserve. This new size is offered in two variants, a blue dial with a blue leather strap or stainless steel bracelet, or a green dial with a brown leather strap.
