Introducing The New Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition

Hamilton once again expands the Khaki Field collection this time with the new ‘Expedition’ model which, in addition to adding an external tool, also comes with a redesigned case.

The new features of the latest addition to the Khaki Field family are not radical and therefore the most loyal enthusiasts of this line can rest assured, the most obvious is undoubtedly the addition of the compass bezel, which is engraved with the cardinal points and with bi-directional rotation as expected, which can be an excellent tool, at least for those who know how to use it, the second, less obvious but perhaps more desired is the shortening of the lugs, which makes the watch fit better on the wrist without leaving a huge gap between the strap and the case.

On the outside, the stainless steel round case remains, which here comes in two different sizes, the smaller one at 37mm in diameter, 10.45mm in thickness and 44mm in lug-to-lug distance, while the wider version is presented with dimensions of 41mm x 11.45 mm x 48 mm. The entire case features a uniform brushed finish, sapphire glass front and open back case, screw-down crown and 100m water resistance, the latter two being (good) new features.

The tone of the dial defines the three variants, which here come in classic black, white or blue, presenting a more simplified layout as the date window is banned here. So we have white Arabic numerals which, in addition to matching the tone of the minute track, also match the colour of the brand’s logo and lettering at noon and the ‘Automatic’ inscription at 6 o’clock, and printed baton hour markers and three centre hands all filled with beige Super-LumiNova.

Inside runs the ETA-based Caliber H-10 automatic movement, which reaches 21,600 Vph and offers up to 80 hours of power reserve.

The new Khaki Field comes attached to a leather strap in different shades of brown, with the black version being available alternatively with a steel bracelet. With prices varying between CHF 970 for the leather strap option and CHF 1,050 for the steel bracelet option.
