Introducing The New Grand Seiko Heritage 62GS Hi-Beat SBGH317 Ginza Exclusive
Grand Seiko begins 2024 with a limited and exclusive edition for Ginza that pays homage to the district where it all began in the 19th century.
The exclusive watch, which is only available in the brand’s boutiques in the luxurious Ginza district of Tokyo, has only 530 units available, and is housed in a stainless steel case with a dial in lilac tones.
Ginza is the district where Seiko’s roots are found, where Kintaro Hattori created his first workshop, which years later led to the founding of Seiko and later to Grand Seiko where it remains today. It is therefore no surprise that both brands come up with editions exclusive to this special place sometimes.
The new watch with reference SBGH317 wears the distinctive 62GS steel case measuring 40mm by 47mm and comes with a mainly Zaratsu polished, box-shaped sapphire crystal, smooth thin bezel, drilled lugs, screw-down crown with the brand’s signature, screwed sapphire case back printed with the blue brand’s lion medallion and 100m water resistance.
Like the SBGH297 model launched in 2022, also exclusive to Ginza, the dial comes with a grid pattern but now in different lilac tones that try to recreate the rows of buildings in that district. Featuring polished applied hour markers and the ‘GS’ logo, Dauphine hands and a framed date window at 3 o’clock next to the crown.
At its heart operates the hi-beat Caliber 9S85 which reaches 36,000 Vph, offering an accuracy of -3 / +5 seconds per day and up to 55 hours of power reserve.
The watch, which is attached to a 3-link steel bracelet with a folding clasp, is available in six boutiques in the Ginza district for a price of JPY 847,000 which represents approximately €4,850 (tax excluded).
