Introducing The New Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer Tourbillon
The new Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer Tourbillon arrives in a 42mm platinum case with a redesigned dial decorated with a ‘Clous de Paris’ pattern and a flying tourbillon with stop-seconds, zero-reset and minute detent functions.
The new Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer Tourbillon arrives now in a limited edition of 50 pieces featuring a more contemporary look.
This ingenious timepiece whose calling card is its flying tourbillon comes with stop-seconds, zero-reset and minute detent functions, which are activated by pulling the crown through three positions that dictate first the tourbillon lock, then the stopping the seconds hand at marker zero and finally moving the minute hand to the next marker.
On the outside, just like its predecessor, it continues to be seen dressed in a platinum case 42mm in diameter and 12.60mm thick, a smooth bezel and a finish that alternates between polished and satin-brushed, fluted crown that now has a blue lacquer cap, glass sapphire on both sides and 50m water resistance.
The skeletonized dial comes with a new layout, features a laser-engraved ‘Clous de Paris’ pattern on the silver bridges, an off-centre time display at noon that in the centre is designed with the earth’s globe and the sun at the top and the moon at the bottom that function as a day-night indicator since in its centre operate the blue hour and minute hands that follow the tone of the hour markers that rest on a silver chapter ring. The dial, which is animated by lilac jewels, also features a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock and the aforementioned flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock.
It is the Caliber 58-06 manual movement that operates at 21,600 Vph, comes with a silicon balance spring and is Chronometer certified brings the watch to life by offering up to 70 hours of power reserve. Movement can be observed through the open case back which receives the same decorative finish as the dial.
The watch is attached to a blue alligator leather strap with a platinum butterfly clasp. It is on sale for a price of €186,600 in the brand’s official boutiques and some selected authorized retailers.
