Introducing the New Breitling Premier Chronograph 40
Breitling has for some time been betting on the launch of models inspired by its classics and we have been covering all these milestones and praising the strategy followed by the brand commanded, and very well, by Georges Kern and today, it was with great enthusiasm that we received 3 “new” watches in the new Premier Heritage Collection. I confess that of the three there is not one that I like less, as I so often had the opportunity to say I like simple watches, without major complications if possible even free from the modest date window, but there are watches that occasionally make us question our tastes and this three new Breitling belong to that restricted group, where here more complications are more.
This new Breitling Premier Chronograph 40 is everything that those who like old chronographs can wish for, it is classic, it is elegant, it is a charm, it is having an old one in a modern body and I think with that all was said. Breitling here, as in the other two launches, did not leave any details to chance and if we were tempted to think that the watch would come with an automatic movement, you are off, it comes as it should come, with manual movement, in a 40mm case, it is fabulous.
But let’s move on to the watch, which does deserve all the honours, we start by mentioning that like the Duograph, and for now, it comes in two 40mm variants, one in steel with a green pistachio dial (brilliant) and the other in 18k red gold with cream dial (silver according to the brand). Here the details are very similar to the Breitling Duograph that we covered in the previous article, silver accents in the steel variant and gold in the 18k red gold variant, applied Arabic hour markers and brand logo, luminescence syringe hands, 30-minute counter at 3 o ‘clock and small-seconds at 9 o’clock, and exquisite detail of “chronograph” inscription at 6 o’clock in serifs font. Like the Duograph the pushers coming in flat shape reminds the old-school chronographs.
Also in terms of movement, this watch has similarities with the Duograph, comes with the In-house movement Caliber B09, which offers the same 70 hours of power reserve and also comes with an open rear case. The models are offered with brown alligator leather strap, although in different shades, lighter in the steel variant and darker in the gold variant.
The watches will be available in the brand’s boutiques starting next week, for the price of € 7,400 in the steel version and € 16,200 in the gold version.
