Introducing The Longines Master Collection “Small Seconds”
Longines continues to be active on the market with the successive launch of new models. While other brands continue to pour new diving and sports watches onto the market that fully fit in with the bathing period we live in, Longines seems to have left this trend behind with the launch in June of the new Zulu Time GMT, and since there, the conversation seems to be different, betting now on more classic models, who knows, already thinking about the next autumn/winter season. First with the presentation of the renewed Flagship that we had the opportunity to talk about here and if you want to know more you can do so through the link that we left here. And now, with the introduction of the new Master Collection “Small Seconds” whose base is the same as the trio of watches presented last year on the occasion of its 190th anniversary.
The new watch now comes in a more moderate size, sporting a 38.5mm polished steel case, fluted crown with the brand’s signature at 3 o’clock, sapphire glass front and back and 30m water resistance.
And if on the outside the format is similar despite the downsize case, on the dial the story is also repeated, with a background salmon dial with a vertical brushed finish, dotted minute chapter ring, two blackened centre leaf hands matching the Breguet-style numerals engraved and the brand’s lettering at 12 o’clock, and now a small seconds at 6 o’clock with a radial pattern and a railroad minute track.
At its heart is the automatic movement Caliber L893.5 based on the ETA A31.501 which reaches 25,200 Vph and now offers an interesting 72 hours of power reserve.
The watch is attached to a black alligator leather strap and can be purchased at official brand boutiques and authorized retailers for €2,650.
In addition to this variant, there is also available other interaction with an anthracite dial and gilt accents.
What We Think
We like to believe that our prayers have been heard and as stated at the time of the launch of the aforementioned trio of celebratory watches the new case size better serves the public’s interests.
Its salmon dial with engraved Breguet numerals and brushed finish is an absolute delight for the eyes, which, combined with an elegant steel case, the upgrade internal movement and a very interesting price, turns out to be a very compelling choice.
This year, countless brands are betting on this colour and therefore good news for all those who are looking for a watch with a salmon dial as there is starting to be plenty to choose from and for different wallet levels.
