Introducing the Longines Avigation BigEye Titanium and Petrol Blue Dial
Let’s go to another quick review.
Longines has just launched a new variant of Avigation BigEye, whose main features are its petrol dial and titanium case.
The Avigation BigEye is based on its historic pilot chronograph from 1930 whose name BigEye was due to the fact that it incorporated a larger 30-minute counter.
In 2017 Longines relaunched a renewed BigEye, which maintained the characteristics of its heritage model, whose main features were 41mm steel case, black dial, silver hands and Arabic hour markers filled with lume, oversized 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. The case featured front sapphire glass, screw-on case back and water resistance up to 30 meters. Inside, a column-wheel chronograph movement (L688) with a silicon balance-spring that gives it great accuracy and resistance to magnetic fields.
What this new variant is different from the 2017 variant, starting with a 41mm titanium case, a san-blasted petroleum blue dial with the same three spiral black counters, black hands and Arabic hour markers filled with faux-patina lume. This new model comes with a 5-year warranty to prove its reliability. Like the other variant, the watch comes with a brown leather strap with a vintage finish.
