Introducing the Grand Seiko SBGY009 Limited Edition
To mark the 55th anniversary of the 1967 44GS watch that gave rise to the “Grand Seiko Style”, the Japanese brand has just launched a limited edition Spring Drive watch of 1,500 units.
The new watch is distinguished by its deep blue dial, which attempts to capture the beauty of the full moon at night in the sky above the Shinshu mountains that can be seen from the Shinshu studio where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are created.
The sunray pattern dial features applied faceted rhodium hour markers and dauphine hands, and gold GS letters that match the second’s hand.
On the outside, a stainless steel case measuring 40mm in diameter and only 10.5mm thick, smooth bezel and drilled lugs, box-shaped sapphire crystal on the front and screw sapphire case back, the latter engraved with the mention of “Limited Edition” and the individual serial number, and lastly, up to 100 meters water resistance.
Inside, it comes equipped with the Spring Drive Caliber 9R31, with a dual-spring barrel that allows it to offer up to 72 hours of power reserve, and which comes with a power reserve indicator on the case back.
The watch is offered with a leather strap in the same tone as the dial, which will be available from August 2022 in the brand’s official boutiques and a selected set of brand retailers, for the recommended price of €8,200.
