Introducing The Grand Seiko SBGW305
The SBGW305 is the new reference that Grand Seiko (GS) has just announced will arrive at the beginning of December, It comes with a silver dial, manual movement and a stainless steel bracelet.
The new and elegant GS, which is nothing more than a sequel to the SBGW235, does not bring any aesthetic or technical novelty, presenting the same format as the previous reference, with the exceptions of the previous beige dial now being replaced by a silver dial and the centre seconds hand is no longer painted blue.
On the outside, the new GS once again wears a round stainless steel case with dimensions of 37.10mm in diameter, 11.70mm in thickness and 44.30mm lug-to-lug distance, which comes with the traditional Zaratsu-polished finish, smooth bezel, box-shaped sapphire crystal, fluted crown with brand’s signature at 3 o’clock, sapphire case back hold by six screws, and finally, 30m of water resistance.
The silver dial comes with a sunburst finish, applied rhodium baton hour markers that are duplicated in the positions of the four cardinal points, faceted Dauphine hands, a needle-shaped centre seconds hand, a black minute track and the applied brand’s logo followed by its lettering printed in black at noon.
At its heart runs the Caliber 9S64, operating since 2011, which guarantees an accuracy of +5/-3 seconds per day, reaching 21,600 Vph and offering three days of power reserve.
As mentioned above, the watch arrives attached to a beads-of-rice steel bracelet with a tri-fold clasp and a push-button release, which can be purchased in the next month for a price of €5,800.
Our Opinion
As we often say here, there is no need to reinvent the wheel to bring fresh air to the market.
The new GS SBGW305 is pure class, representing another option for those seeking versatility and exclusivity without being ostentatious.
The dial, now in silver tones, is undoubtedly more consensual and cleaner, as is the steel bracelet that adapts better to different environments and occasions than more formal leather strap options.
