Introducing The Grand Seiko SBGJ273 Hi-Beat 36000 GMT

Grand Seiko is not resting and is now presenting a new GMT watch, which arrives with the reference SBGJ273.

Just over two weeks ago, Grand Seiko introduced us to the SBGJ275 and SBGM253, two GMT watches that came with light blue dials inspired by the sky of Mt. Iwate and now a new variant of the SBGJ arrives with a beautiful red dial.

The striated textured dial comes with a vertical orientation and is inspired by the lacquered wooden floors of Japanese homes, where we can find the usual design of applied faceted silver hour markers and Dauphine’s hands, a framed date window at 3 o’clock, an inner 24-hour scale that works in partnership with the extra central GMT hand whose golden tone matching the “GMT” inscription at 6 o’clock and finally to the brand logo applied at noon.

On the outside, the elegant round stainless steel case measuring 39.50 mm in diameter by 14.10 mm thick comes with traditional Zaratsu polishing, a crown at 3 o’clock with embossed “GS” letters, sapphire crystal on both sides and a splash water resistance. Like most other variants, it comes attached to a three-link steel bracelet with a triple clasp and push button release.

At its heart beats the in-house high-frequency Caliber 9S86 automatic movement, which can reach 36,000 Bph and offers up to 55 hours of power reserve.

The new reference SBGJ273 becomes part of the brand’s regular collection and can be found in the brand’s official boutiques and some authorized retailers worldwide for a price of €7,600.
