Introducing the Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 36000 GMT 44GS 55th Anniversary LE

In 1967, Grand Seiko, when launching its first 44GS model, intended to transmit to the world the principles that should henceforth define any watch of the brand and whose design code became known as the “Grand Seiko Style”.

To mark this milestone, the brand is now launching a commemorative limited edition of 1,200 units, featuring a Hi-Beat 36000 GMT watch and a titanium case.

Thus, the new Seiko 44GS features a 40mm case in high-intensity titanium, which, in addition to being 30% lighter than steel, is characterized by being highly resistant to scratches and corrosion, with a Zaratsu polished finish. The case also features a smooth bezel, crown at three o’clock with the brand’s signature, and dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating.

The silver/white dial comes with applied hour markers and hands in silver all filled with lumibrite, a 24-hour inner bezel ring for the second time zone that works in partnership with the central tempered blue GMT hand, applied “GS” and “GMT” letters in blue at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively.

Inside it operates the high-beat movement Caliber 9S86 that offers up to 55 hours of power reserve with an accuracy rate of +5 to -3 seconds a day, and that can be see-through the open case back, whose oscillating weight features the Grand Seiko lion emblem and is in gold-tone achieved through an anodic oxidation process.

Finally, the watch is offered with a five-link titanium strap, two thin interlocking links, and three wide links, with a three-fold clasp with push-button release.

The watch will be available from January 2022 exclusively in official boutiques of the brand and in some selected retail partners worldwide, for a recommended price of € 8,500.
