Introducing the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Eternity Edition
Girard-Perregaux has just added the Eternity Edition to its Laureato collection in the form of two new interactions.
The Laureato, which was born in 1975 on the quartz format, quickly distinguished itself by its round dial framed with an octagonal bezel and an integrated bracelet that earned it the designation of sports watch, and today 46 years later, it continues to present many of these exterior features and its connotation.
The Laureato Eternity Edition is distinguished by its enamel dials, one in green and the other in blue, whose effect of time will hardly prevail on them, as explained by the CEO of the brand “These dials won’t fade with the passage of time. Their beauty will remain eternal, destined to be enjoyed by those in the future.”
The production of the enamel dials takes place in the company’s in-house facility, which comprises a mixture of silica, minium, potash, and soda which are ground into a powder. Additional metal oxides are then added to create different colored enamels. The powder is dusted onto the dial and then fired in an oven that typically operates at about 800°C. This process is repeated on 5-10 occasions to achieve the desired lustrous appearance.
Thus the new Laureato features a 42 mm stainless steel case, octagonal bezel, and integrated bracelet with finishes that alternate between polished and brushed. The enamel dial comes with a guilloché sunray motif, applied rhodium-plated hour markers and baton-type hands, date aperture at 3 o’clock with a background on the same tones of the dial, and the GP logo at 12 o’clock. Powered by the automatic movement GP01800 that operates at 28,800 vph and offers up to 54 hours of power reserve, which can be observed through the open case back.
Each of the variants is limited to 188 units and will be available in December 2021 exclusively at Seddiqi and thereafter at the brand’s official boutiques and retailers for the price of CHF 13,460.
