Introducing the Franck Muller x BWD Crazy Hours Snoopy
We’ve talked many times here about many of the collaborations of various brands with George Bamford, and I must confess that in general, I get very excited every time I hear about a new collaboration, perhaps because many of the animated cartoon figures remind me of my childhood, where today I can proudly say, that belonged to that generation where characters such as Snoopy, Popeye, Muppets, TinTin, Tom Sawyer, among so many others were part of my world and which I still enjoy today, making me smile.
The most recent collaboration with the Bamford Watch Department is with the prestigious Swiss brand Franck Muller, and if at first glance the central figure of the watch is the Snoopy, which in itself already gives us a big smile, the shuffled disposition of the hours make us smile even more, with the minute and hour hands shaped Snoopy’s paws, with the hour hand moving “disorderly”, it’s no accident that the watch is called Crazy Hours Snoopy.
But the surprises don’t stop there, in fact, the biggest spectacle is even saved for the evening when the entire dial is illuminated through the iconic concentric circular pattern around Snoopy, which is filled with lined Super LumiNova in green tones that perfectly contrasts with the black of the dial and the matte black of the case.
The watch is based on a Cintree Curvex stainless steel case measuring 39.6 mm in diameter and 11.8 mm in thickness, sapphire glass, solid case back, and an appreciable 300 m water resistance. As already mentioned, the dial, in addition to the concentric circular pattern around Snoopy, also comes with its main friend Woodstock in double, positioned at 10 and 9 o’clock, and lastly, applied Arabic numerals. Inside, the Franck Muller Crazy Hours self-winding movement operates, which offers up to 42 hours of power reserve and comes equipped with jumping hours that make the hour hand move non-sequentially, forcing us to concentrate in order to read the real-time, as it presents itself in an unconventional way. The watch is offered with a black fabric strap that matches the dark tone of its case.
The Franck Muller x BWD Crazy Hours Snoopy is a limited edition of 25 pieces, which is offered in a single black box, decorated on the lid with the Crazy Hours design in various shades and also with the Snoopy and Woodstock figures drawn in different points of the box, inside and out. The watches are already available on the Bamford Watch Department website at a price of £ 28,000.
