Introducing the Doxa SUB 200 Whitepearl
Doxa has just added the 7th model to its entry-level SUB 200 collection, now with an all-white variant the Whitepearl. This new variant follows on from the existing variants: Professional with orange dial, Sharkhunter with black dial, Searamble with silver dial, Caribbean with navy blue dial, Divingstar with yellow dial and Aquamarine with light blue dial.
The new Whitepearl variant despite being almost the same inside and out as the rest of the collection, presents itself with some differentiating aesthetic details, starting with the polar white dial that is only interrupted by the black accents, where we can find a ring with the minute scale, hour markers flanked in black and filled with white lume, date window with a black frame, hands coating in black and filled with white lume and the inscription of the brand at 12 o’clock and the mention of the “SUB 200” collection at 6 o’clock all in black. Also, the unidirectional bezel gets the same color scheme, with a white bezel insert and black dive scale.
The 42mm steel case has the same shape and the same finish that alternates between polished and brushed as the rest of the collection, a recessed bezel, screwed crown at 3 o’clock engraved with the Doxa fish symbol in black, and here lies one of the differences compared to the other variants, as they all come with the symbol in orange. Behind, a threaded cap engraved with the Doxa fish symbol over a zigzag pattern that tends to represent the waves of the sea. The watch comes with a water resistance of 200 meters.
The Doxa Whitepearl like the rest of the SUB 200 collection comes equipped with the “old” but reliable ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, which next year will celebrate 40 years of service, which operates at a frequency of 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours power reserve, an already modest performance for nowadays.
The watch is offered with the same strap options as the rest of the line, starting with the “beads of rice” steel bracelet with 5 polished inner links and 2 brushed side links and folding clasp with Doxa fish logo engraved or a white textured rubber strap with two size options.
The watch is already available at the brand’s official stores and retailers within the usual price range, € 990 for the steel bracelet option and € 950 for the rubber strap option.
Our Opinion
This new variant presents itself as a more contemporary variant compared to the others, its almost shiny white dial and bezel with black indexes make it a monochromatic version not seen before in another model in the collection. The Whitepearl seems to us to be a daring option that certainly won’t be the cup of tea for many people since its white infinite will always and easily be associated with a more feminine audience. Personally, we are more for the color scheme of the classic variants whose Faustina lume fit perfectly.
