Introducing the De Bethune Kind of Two Tourbillion
De Bethune has just created a new watch with two distinct faces and full of complications, this watch gives shape to an idea by Denis Flageollet that has been matured over many years.
This launch through the ingenious system of floating lugs allows to change the face of the watch and keep the two different dials in the correct position without having to operate any other movement, the main face is presented with a contemporary dial whose main characteristic is the existence of a tourbillon at 6 o’clock where it also simultaneously works a 30-second indicator, on the other side, we have a traditional dial with hour and minute central hands and a central second hand. The complexity of this piece is enormous not only because the tourbillon is only visible on one side of the watch, but also because the second hand operates in different positions on each side of the watch. Inside and in its heart operates the new Caliber entirely developed and manufactured by De Bethune at L’Aubreson in the Swiss Jura.
But let’s take a careful look at each side of this watch and starting with the most complex, the contemporary dial, we have a silver dial with blue details and hands, a larger minute chapter ring and a small hour chapter ring, at 6 o’clock ‘as already mentioned, it has a tourbillon where the 30-second indicator operates. Even though it is not a skeletonized watch, in addition to the tourbillon it is also possible to observe part of the mechanical wheels that give life to its movement.
Regarding the traditional dial, its comes with a large Arabic minute track, followed by an Arabic hour ring and in the center a shape of a hive pattern, where the hour and minute hands operate alongside the central second hand. The accents and hands like the reverse side are in blue.
The watch is presented in the 42.8mm DB29 case, in polished grade 5 titanium, with floating lugs that allow alternating the two watch faces, crown at 12 o’clock on the contemporary or main dial, which varies up to 6 o’clock when switching to the traditional or secondary dial. Both dials feature a sapphire glass with double anti-reflective treatment.
Finally, the watch comes equipped with a Caliber DB2579 manual movement, with 5 days of power reserve, in which we must also highlight its innovative silicon balance and balance-spring.
The watch is offered with a black alligator leather strap.
