Introducing The Citizen Challenge Diver Automatic
Another very interesting Citizen dive watch has just arrived on the market and is accessible to almost all budgets.
And if in recent times we have seen Seiko escaping this level with rising prices, the same has not happened with its fellow competitor Citizen, which continues to focus on quality timepieces at attractive prices.
In this battle of titans for now, Citizen seems to have the advantage and its latest launch is proof of this, the new Chalange Diver Automatic collection for less than €300.
The new diving watches arrive dressed in a brushed stainless steel case, 41mm in diameter and 13.70mm thick and with a reduced lug distance which makes it wear well even on the smallest wrists, a unidirectional bezel with a metallic insert that comes with a scale 60 minutes and pip-lume at 12 o’clock, mineral glass at the front, screw-down crown at 3 o’clock, screwed solid case back and 200m water resistance.
The dials, in addition to having a grainy texture, come with a gradient effect whose tone intensifies from the centre to the outside, which is adorned with applied hour markers and ‘Mercedes’ hands all filled with luminescent material, lollipop centre seconds hand, framed day- date window right next to the crown, and the inscriptions of the brand’s signature at noon and on the opposite side the upward facing arrow followed by the text lines ‘Automatic’ and ‘Diver’s 200m’.
The collection is made up of four variants, which we have the classic black dial and bezel, a version with an orange dial and black bezel, another with a green dial and bezel and finally a version with a blue dial and bezel. The first three come attached to a rubber strap in black for the black and orange versions and in green for the green version, while the blue variant is the only one to come attached to a steel bracelet with a folding clasp, but is also available with a black rubber strap.
Inside, the Caliber 8204-21A does the trick, which comes with an accuracy of +20 / -10 seconds per day, hacking seconds, reaching 21,600 Vph and offering up to 45 hours of power reserve.
The new diving watches that are ISO 6425 certified are now available in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers at prices of €269 and €299 for the rubber strap and steel bracelet options respectively.
