Introducing the Bvlgari Aluminum GMT
Exactly a year ago in August 2020 Bulgari unveiled the “new” Bulgari Aluminum to the world, a revival of the Bulgari Diagono of the late ’90s, starting first with a time-only watch, followed by a chronograph and now, a year later, releasing a new variant with dual time zone (GMT).
The new variant comes in blue, shades that extend from the dial, to the bezel and the rubber-aluminum strap (or bracelet if you prefer) and if we add an internal 24-hour dual color (Pepsi) bezel with daylight hours in red and night hours in blue plus an additional GMT hand with a wide red arrowhead, we have the new Bulgari Aluminum GMT.
Aesthetically, the new GMT doesn’t add much more to the time-only base version, externally keeping the same 40mm aluminum case with crown guards and water resistance up to 100 meters, crown and case back in titanium, rubber bezel engraved with “Bvlgari” around and hinged rubber strap with aluminum links and pin buckle. The dial features the same stick-shaped hour indexes and large Arabic hour indexes at 6 and 12 o’clock positions, filled with white lume. The central hour, minute, and second hands are featured in silver polished in order to facilitate its reading on the blue dial which, like the arrowhead of the GMT hand, are also filled with lume. Finally, note that this new variant also comes with the same date aperture at 3 o’clock.
Inside, the new GMT is powered by the Caliber B192 automatic movement based on the Sellita SW 330-1 that offers up to 42 hours of power reserve.
Bulgari Aluminum GMT is now available for sale at authorized brand retailers for €3,500.
Our First Look
Although aluminum is far from being the first choice in terms of material when it comes to the luxury watch market, we cannot fail to say that this new variant is very attractive and with the same very comfortable strap/bracelet that we have already seen in the previous variants, which makes us excited to try. However, we cannot leave some reservations about its price of €3,500, even though it is within the range of the collection and the brand itself, for that price, there is strong competition abroad.
