Introducing The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic
In 2012, Bulgari introduced the new Octo watch line to the World for the first time, designed by Gérald Genta, the architect of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus and besides it being a modern watch with measures not so small for those who see it from the front, it became almost immediately iconic, not only because of its unique design but also because it fits extremely well in most writs, even in the small ones and for that, it contributes a lot with its small thickness.
Over the years since its launch, the Octo line has been collecting size records such as the thinnest automatic movement, the thinnest tourbillon, among many others, making the brand assert itself as one of the greatest specialists in the production of fine movements, as with other prestigious brands in the sector such as Piaget.
The latest launch brought by Bulgari is no less than the thinnest automatic tourbillon chronograph, with only a slimmer 3.5 mm tourbillon and a total case thickness of 7.40 mm.
So, let’s take a look at this new watch, as a starting point it is a limited edition of only 50 pieces, it comes in a 42 mm diameter titanium case, a skeletonized matte grey dial, a screw crown and this is another novelty introduced in the Octo line, representing an increase of the previous 30 meters of water resistance, for now up to 100 meters. The two push-buttons between the crown that controls the chronograph are in reality a monopusher, only one of the buttons (the push-button above the crown) controls all the functions of the chronograph, it starts, stops and resets by another complex mechanical improvement, the second push-button is used to switch between turning the crown to wind the watch or adjusting the hands. Inside, a movement Caliber BVL 388 with 52 hours of power reserve.
Final thought, even for non-fans of skeletonized watches, it is an impressive watch that allows us to see in all the splendour of its movement, including its horizontally coupled column-wheel chronograph. Bulgari continues to surprise us and leave us dreaming of what will be the next novelty.
