Introducing the Breitling Super Chronomat
Let’s go to another Pitch Watch
Breitling has just launched the Super Chronomat and if you are wondering now what a “Super” is, I would say it is a wide Chronomat with a 44 mm case.
The new Super Chronomat brings all the features of the traditional 42mm Chronomat, such as the traditional rider-tabs on the bezel with exchangeable tabs at three and nine o’clock, a bullet-shaped crown flanked by two pusher buttons that control the chronograph function, on the dial a tachymeter scale, three counters at 3-6-9 o’clock and a date aperture.
So, let’s focus now on what’s new, this new Super Chronomat has some aesthetic changes, starting with a ceramic insertion bezel, the first on a Chronomat, crown, and buttons in the same color as the dial and bezel, open case back, four-annual calendar (available in some variants only) and different strap options.
Eleven, is the number of variants offered on the Super Chronomat and they are, two variants in stainless steel with blue or black dial, both with the option of rubber strap in the same color as the dial or rouleaux bracelet, the black is also offered with a third option, equipped with a UTC module embedded in the rouleaux bracelet. One variant in 18k red gold with brown dial available with a rubber strap or 18k red gold bracelet and lastly, two two-tone variants (stainless steel and 18k red gold) with blue or black dial available with a rubber strap or two-tone bracelet.
The stainless steel and 18k red gold variants come with 200 meters of water resistance, while the two-tone variants come with only 100 meters. The UTC module available in the black stainless steel variant is a special feature that allows the reading of a second-time zone.
The two-tone variants come with a four-year calendar, which needs to be adjusted every leap year (every 1461 days), and a moon phase indicator, which means that the counters on the dial accumulate the annual calendar and the chronograph functions. Inside, the Caliber Breitling 19 (based on the ETA 2892-A2 movement) operates, offering up to 42 hours of power reserve, all other variants are equipped with Caliber B01.
The watches are now available, with prices starting from € 8,150 for the stainless steel variant with a rubber strap.
