Introducing the Breitling Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillon
Breitling has just released three new tourbillon chronographs that pay tribute to the brand’s three founders through this unlikely mix of complications.
The new B21 Chronograph Tourbillon are part of the brand’s Premier collection, whose foundations date back to the period of the Second World War when its high-precision chronographs began to present a more appealing and glamorous design, functioning as an oxygen balloon for the brand.
The B21 movement that equips the new chronographs was developed with the speciality movement maker Manufacture La Joux-Perret, whose highlight is the tourbillon at 12 o’clock that houses the balance wheel, balance spring and escapement in a rotating cage.
The three chronographs are offered in precious metal in different versions. The Léon Breitling is presented in an 18K red gold case with a silver dial and brown crocodile leather strap. The Gaston Breitling is housed in an 18K white gold case with an anthracite dial and a black crocodile leather strap. And finally, the Willy Breitling combines a platinum case with a blue dial and a black crocodile leather strap.
On the outside, the watches feature a 42mm case, with sapphire glass front and back, a fluted crown at three o’clock and two rectangular pushers.
The dial, which features a tachymeter outer ring and a 1/4 second scale inner ring, also comes with applied Arabic numerals, brand logo and syringe hands all matching the case and a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock. It should also be noted that the León and Gaston models feature a blue second hand in the centre and the sub-dial small hand.
As already mentioned, inside operates the Calibre B21 automatic movement which is COSC certified, runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 55 hours of power reserve. All the splendour of the movement can be observed through the open case back with an emphasis on the skeletonized 22K gold oscillating mass.
The chronographs are now available in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers, with prices ranging from €56,000 for the 18K red and white gold versions to €86,000 for the platinum version.
