Introducing the Breguet Type XXI 3815
Let’s go to another Pitch Watch
Breguet has just reinforced its aviation collection, better known as Type XX – XXI – XXII, whose name came from the set of watch specifications attributed by France so that could equip their Air Force, including a flyback chronograph that simply consists of restarting the chronograph without first having to stop, reset and restart, which is what happens with most traditional chronographs.
The new Breguet Type XXI 3815 is very similar to its previous model Type XXI 3817, with the same 42mm case diameter, open case back, dial with large Arabic numerals, central seconds hand and central minute hand for the chronograph function, increasingly rare, as most chronographs typically feature a minute sub-dial instead of the central minute hand, and lastly the same movement base, the Caliber 584Q.
But after all, what makes this new Type XXI 3815 different?
Starting with a titanium case and bezel, which is not very common at Breguet and which makes it necessarily lighter and more resistant to corrosion, the bidirectional bezel is now presented in black and with embossed numbers on the scale.
The black dial also houses some new features, two asymmetrical sub-dials, and a date aperture, which replaces the three sub-dials of the Type XXI 3817 and which gives it a more contemporary look, so the new 3815 includes a 24h counter at 3 o’clock, a date window at 6 and small seconds at 9.
This new model is offered in two color variants, in which the Arabic hour numbers and the lipstick-shaped hands are lume filled in green or orange. In addition, the inverted triangle marking 12h on the bezel is also presented in the same tones as the indexes. Both variants are offered with a brown leather strap, darker in the orange variant and lighter in the green variant, with stitching in the same colors as the variants.
Inside it operates the automatic Breguet Caliber 584Q/A movement, with a hand-decorated gold rotor, silicon escapement, and balance spring that allows greater resistance to magnetic fields and greater accuracy, it offers up to 48 hours of power reserve.
The watches are limited edition of 250 pieces each and come with individual numbering engraved on the case back, they are already available at the brand’s authorized boutiques and retailers for the price of CHF 14,500.
