Introducing The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 42MM In Titanium And Red Gold
Following the limited edition Act 1 of the 70th anniversary of Fifty Fathoms (FF), Blancpain now “rewards” its fans with not one, but four new FF, which in total unfold into 14 interactions in 42mm and which pass to be part of the brand’s permanent collection.
The new watches arrive in two different premium materials, Titanium and Red Gold, and with black or blue dials, while the stainless steel version keeps outside.
While the Titanium versions can be attached to a bracelet made of the same material, or with the option of a Canvas, NATO-type or Tropic-type rubber strap, the Red Gold versions have the bracelet option excluded, and hence we arrive at the 14 interactions above mentioned.
On the outside, the round case comes with dimensions of 42.30mm wide (and yes, it’s not exactly 42mm, it’s a little bit more) and 14.30mm high (nothing new here) which comes with a mainly brushed finish. Unidirectional diving bezel with domed ceramic insert and scale filled with luminescent material, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown with crown guards at 3 o’clock, screwed sapphire case back through which it is possible to observe the movement with an emphasis on the NAC- coated 18k Red Gold rotor, and finally, 300m water resistance.
The dial, whether in black or blue, comes with a sunburst finish, featuring the same layout as the wide 45mm versions, where we can find applied hour markers and Arabic numerals at 3-6-9-12 o’clock, which, like the hands, are all filled with Super-LumiNova, date window at 4:30 with a background in the same colour as the dial and centre seconds hand with a red lumed tip.
At its heart operates the same Caliber 1315 automatic movement that we find in the 45mm version with 227 components and which offers a robust 5 days of power reserve.
The new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, which can now be found in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers, come with prices that start at €18,750 and go up to €21,500 in the Titanium version, while in the Red Gold version, they range between € 33,800 and €37,500.
