Introducing the Baltic Aquascaphe Titanium
The Aquascaphe, which remains the apple of Baltic’s eye, the French brand takes another step forward in innovation, after the steel and bronze versions, titanium is now debuting.
And if at first glance we can fall into the temptation of judging that we are just facing an Aquascaphe with a new “dress” don’t be wrong because there is much more to add.
As we have already mentioned, the base of the new Aquascaphe is its titanium case which now also houses a ceramic bezel filled with lume, its width of 2mm more makes it extend beyond the diameter of the case, thus increasing the diameter of the new Aquascaphe to 41mm, keeping, however, all other measurements such as the 47mm lug-to-lug distance. Finally, there are still two more novelties outside to be added, first, the inclusion of crown guards and the consequent wider crown and, finally, the increase in water resistance to 300m compared to the previous 200m.
The Aquascaphe Titanium comes in two variants, in black and in blue, whose shades extend from the dial to the bezel, it should also be noted that the black version also includes a grained dial, and on the dial we also find some new features, albeit more discreet, dropping the former sandwich dial construction and now opting for a single layer. The other novelty is the option of adopting the Dual-Crown layout, not only in terms of the hands but also the hour markers, which keep generous layers of Super-LumiNova although in different shades, in green in the black variant and in blue in the blue variant.
Inside, there is nothing new, continuing to bet on the reliable Miyota 9039 that operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve.
The two new dive watches follow the rest of the collection in terms of the Tropic-style rubber strap matching the dial.
It should also be noted that for now each of the variants has 300 units available numbered, which can be purchased at the Baltic online store for the price of €710 plus VAT.
Our Opinion
It’s no secret that we’re fans of Baltic’s work and its entire journey, and in that sense, we believe that the new Aquascaphe Titanium is another step in that direction.
In general, we liked all the new features introduced, and here it should be noted that there were not a few, perhaps here the Achilles heel is the width of the new bezel, however, we have already seen the same thing happen with other brands and maybe it is just a false question that we ended up with to get used to.
As usual, we leave here the opinion of which one we liked the most and although we liked them both a lot, just because the black version comes with a textured dial makes the balance tilt a little in its favour.
