Audemars Piguet, after presenting the first collaboration with Marvel in 2021 with the character “Black Panther”, now comes a second collaboration, this time with the character “Spider-Man”.
Like the first collaboration, the Marvel character appears in the centre of the dial in 3D format and in 18k white gold that is hand printed and engraved which is now also hand painted.
On the outside, the new Royal Oak is dressed in a titanium case measuring 42mm in diameter and 15mm thick, with an octagonal screw-down crown and black ceramic bezel, and 100m of water resistance.
The open-worked dial in addition to the Marvel character features PVD black-gold hour markers and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova whose luminescence also extends to the eyes of “Spider-Man”.
Inside operates the manual movement Caliber AP2974 with a tourbillon and which offers up to 72 hours of power reserve, unlike the first edition that came with the Caliber AP2965 with a flying tourbillon.
Like the first edition, it is a limited edition of 250 pieces that are offered with two rubber straps, one in black-grey and the other in black-red and which benefit from the interchangeable strap system, which can be purchased for the price of CHF 195,000.
It should also be noted that, as in the first collaboration, a unique piece was auctioned for charity purposes, raising USD 6.2 Million, one million more than the amount collected in the first edition, whose value had remained at USD 5.2 Million.
