Introducing the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Platinum

As part of the “Homage to Ferdinand Adolf Lange” collection released in 2020 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the brand, the 1815 Rattrapante Honey Gold was launched, which in addition to the gold case also featured hands in the same material that rested on a black dial and which emerged as a limited edition of 100 pieces.

Today and two years after its launch, Lange presents a new variant in platinum and also as an exclusive edition of 200 pieces.

The new edition is based on the same three-layer construction case measuring 41.2mm in diameter by 12.6mm in thickness, whose finishes alternate between polished and brushed and with sapphire crystal on both sides of the case.

The new white-silver dial, which is now accompanied by blue hands, features the same layout of two vertical registers, formed by a 30-minute counter and a small-seconds, in addition to Arabic hour markers, a railway-track minute scale with red dots used for every quarter and an outer ring tachymeter scale. It should also be noted that the central rattrapante hand in blue plays together with a central chronograph hand in rhodium-plated steel.

Inside, it is powered by the In-house Caliber L101.2, consisting of 365 parts and 36 jewels, which runs at 21,600 Vph and offers up to 58 hours of power reserve. As already mentioned, the watch comes with an open-through case back, through which we can appreciate the careful and detailed decoration of its hand-winding movement based on two-column wheels.

The watch is offered with a black leather strap and is priced at USD 154,200.

Our Opinion

It’s hard not to like each new model that A. Lange & Söhne produces, the classic and elegant lines of each of its pieces can only compete with the complex complications it adds to each watch.

While I’ve really enjoyed the new platinum variant of the 1815 Rattrapante, my preference remains the 2020 Honey Gold variant, while I continue to dream of “my” Little Lange 1 in pink gold.
