Introducing Chopard’s Latest Mille Miglia Timepieces: Classic Chronograph And GTS Chrono
Every year the mythical Mille Miglia classic motorsport race takes place in Italy on a route that connects the regions of Brescia and Rome and Chopard, which is proud to be the Official Timekeeper of the race since 1988, presents two new chronographs thinking on it.
Classic Chronograph
The new Classic Chronograph joins the permanent collection and follows the lines of the previous retro-inspired ones that now come with a steel case and a Panda dial.
Wearing a polished and satin-brushed finish round stainless steel case with dimensions of 40.50mm in diameter and 12.80mm in thickness, domed sapphire glass, fluted crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two pump-pushers, open case back and 50m water resistance water.
The silvery-white dial features a circular brushed finish on which we discover three black registers with grey frames translated in a running second, a 12-hour counter and a 30-minute register at 3-6-9 o’clock respectively. Painted Arabic numerals that, like the hands, are filled with grey Super-LumiNova that matches the date window background at 4:30, a black tachymeter inner bezel and a chronograph centre seconds hand with a red tip in the same tone as the Mile Miglia badge at noon.
Inside it is powered by the ETA A32.211 automatic movement which is COSC-certified running 28,800 Vph and offering up to 54 hours of power reserve.
The watch is attached to a black rally-style calfskin strap with a steel pin buckle and costs €10,100.
GTS Chrono
In addition to the steel chronograph, there is also a 100-piece limited edition GTS Chrono exclusive to the Italian market that comes in a Grade 2 Titanium case.
Housed in a bead-blasted Titanium case measuring 44mm by 14.60mm, a tachymeter bezel with black aluminium insert, sapphire glass, black DLC crown and pushers, a solid case back adorned with the race logo and a 100m waterproof.
The grey galvanized dial comes with three counters at 6-9-12 o’clock supported by a 12-hour register, a running seconds and a 30-minute counter, a date window with magnifier next to the crown, applied hour markers and hands filled with black Super-LumiNova and the Mile Miglia Arrow at 3 o’clock.
At its heart runs the Valjoux 7750 automatic movement, which is also COSC-certified, operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers up to 2 days of power reserve.
The new Chopard GTS Chrono comes attached to a black strap made from upcycled plastic collected from the Mediterranean Sea and costs €10,300.
