Introducing Certina’s New 44.60mm DS Action Diver Chrono
The DS collection, which stands for Double Security, was introduced in 1959 by Certina by adding an O-ring system to the crown and stem along with reinforced case back protection, presents a new diving watch with a chronograph function that comes in a bulky case, going against the latest trends in the marketplace.
The robust 44.50mm stainless steel watch can hardly go unnoticed on the wrist and comes in three colour variants on the dial, starting with the classic black which, like the blue version, arrives attached to a steel bracelet and a beige variant with gilt accents and black framed sub-dials matching the tone of the bezel attached to a textile strap.
The round stainless steel case features a brushed finish, unidirectional bezel with a 60-minute ceramic insert and pip lume over an inverted triangle at noon, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown at 3 o’clock flanked by guards and two pushers, recessed Helium escapement valve at 10 o’clock, screwed solid case back with embossed Turtle and 300m waterproof.
The dial comes with a sunburst effect in the black and blue variants while the beige version features a matte finish, where we can find two registers at 3 and 6 o’clock, with a 30-minute counter and a running seconds, a date window with a white background that now travels to the 6 o’clock, and applied hour markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova.
The new Certina DS is powered by the 29-jewel ETA A05.231 automatic movement that reaches 28,800 Vph and offers up to 68 hours of power reserve.
As mentioned above, the black and blue versions come attached to a 3-link steel bracelet that features an alternating brushed and polished finish with a folding clasp, and the beige version comes attached to a NATO-type strap striped in black, white and yellow made of upcycled plastic with a steel buckle pin.
The watches are now available from CHF 1,750 (on a textile strap) to CHF 1,795 (on a steel bracelet).
