Hyundai Teases Its Toughest SUV Yet With The Boulder Concept
Hyundai unveiled the new Boulder Concept, an off-road SUV that previews the brand’s future ambitions in the rugged body-on-frame segment.

Designed under Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” philosophy, the Boulder features a bold, boxy silhouette with sharp lines, squared wheel arches, and an upright stance that emphasizes its off-road character. Premium touches such as roof-mounted safari-style windows add both style and practicality, while the concept rides on massive 37-inch mud-terrain tires that reinforce its adventure-ready presence.

Although Hyundai has not released technical specifications such as ground clearance, the concept displays aggressive approach and departure angles, suggesting serious off-road capability.

Practicality is also a key element of the design. The Boulder includes rear-hinged rear doors for easier cabin access and gear loading, along with a dual-hinged tailgate that can be opened from either side. A drop-down rear window further enhances versatility.

Inside, the cabin focuses on usability, featuring physical knobs and buttons instead of relying entirely on touchscreen controls, alongside thoughtful additions like fold-out tray tables.

Beyond the concept itself, the Boulder serves as a preview of Hyundai’s upcoming U.S.-developed body-on-frame platform, which is expected to underpin future models aimed at the North American market, potentially including both a mid-size pickup truck and an SUV.
