Hublot x Jeff Koons: Balloon Dog Takes Over The Classic Fusion & MP-14
Hublot has joined forces with American artist Jeff Koons for a collaboration built around one of his most recognisable creations, the Balloon Dog. The partnership results in two very different watches: the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons, produced in three colours, and the much more technically ambitious MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons.
While the first adapts the familiar Classic Fusion into a sculptural interpretation of the Balloon Dog, the second uses Hublot’s high-end MP collection architecture to create an entirely new mechanical composition around the same artistic inspiration.
Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons
The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog is available in three versions, each limited to 200 pieces. Rather than simply placing an image of Koons’ sculpture on the dial, Hublot has altered the physical construction of the watch to reproduce the inflated appearance associated with the artwork.

The 42 mm case measures 11mm thick and is water resistant to 50 metres. Its surfaces are dominated by rounded, convex forms, extending from the case and bezel to the raised sapphire crystal. Even the characteristic H-shaped titanium screws have received domed heads, contributing to the impression that the entire case has been inflated from within.
Material and colour choices further distinguish the three editions. The silver version uses polished stainless steel, while the red and blue references are produced in polished anodised aluminium. These finishes give the coloured watches the intense, reflective appearance associated with Koons’ metallic Balloon Dog sculptures.
Several smaller details continue the theme. The crown combines metal and rubber and has been shaped to resemble a balloon’s inflation valve, while a flexible rubber tail extends from the case at approximately 10:30.

The dial follows the same three-dimensional approach. Its polished surface incorporates raised, domed appliques containing white Super-LumiNova, while the hour and minute hands feature raised luminous inserts. The seconds hand is particularly distinctive, using a Balloon Dog-shaped counterweight. A date aperture at 3 o’clock completes the display, with white numerals against a black disc.
Inside the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog is Hublot’s HUB1710 automatic calibre, based on the Zenith Elite 670 architecture.
The movement measures 25.6mm in diameter and just 3.7mm thick. It contains 185 components and 27 jewels, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering approximately 50 hours of power reserve.
Hublot has also incorporated the artistic concept into the movement itself. The mainplate and bridges receive an anthracite ruthenium treatment, while the polished rhodium-plated oscillating weight has been redesigned with an inflated appearance.

The watches are completed by integrated straps and stainless-steel deployant clasps. Depending on the version, the strap incorporates a debossed metallic leather or polymer insert, with the attachment points also following the softer, rounded aesthetic of the case.
Each colour is limited to 200 examples. The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons is priced at € 24,600.

MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons
The second watch takes the collaboration into considerably more complicated territory. The MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons is limited to just 30 pieces and combines an elaborate sapphire construction with Hublot’s central tourbillon architecture.
Its 44 mm case adopts an octagonal form and combines sapphire crystal with titanium. According to Hublot, manufacturing the sapphire case requires approximately 534 hours of machining. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres.

The transparent construction exposes a highly unusual display. Instead of conventional hands, two concentric rotating rings indicate the hours and minutes using suspended red and grey stainless-steel cubes. Two additional outer rings remain stationary, creating a layered three-dimensional display.
Adding further visual complexity, the two fixed rings are set with 202 baguette-cut diamonds and blue sapphires, representing approximately 2.6 carats in total.
At the centre sits a tourbillon beneath a transparent sapphire dome treated with translucent blue varnish. The result combines the artistic language of the Balloon Dog with one of Hublot’s most technically distinctive mechanical layouts.
Powering the MP-14 Origin is the HUB9014, a manufacture movement developed by Hublot in collaboration with Concepto. Comprising 594 components, the automatic calibre operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and provides a 60-hour power reserve.

A peripheral oscillating weight provides automatic winding while leaving the centre of the movement open. This is particularly important for the MP-14 Origin, where the movement architecture and central tourbillon form an integral part of the visual presentation.
The sapphire-and-titanium construction continues onto the bracelet, which is fully integrated into the case and maintains the watch’s highly sculptural character.
Limited to only 30 pieces, the MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons is priced at CHF 405,000.
